to be a kid again

The other day I had to Sub as a librarian for two days straight and Colby was out of town, so when I came home I was basically a single mommy.  What a job.  I tell you it really put into perspective what my mom must have gone through raising two girls on her own and just trying to get by everyday.  I was so stinken tired not even tired, I was EXHAUSTED!!!  It really made me so grateful for my husband and really made me miss him and appreciate all he does for us.  I had to call my mom that night and ask her how she ever managed to do it, how she managed to raise two girls on her own that turned out to be two pretty good girls.

Anyway, after I got home from teaching I had to clean up the house, make dinner, make Pampered Chef phone calls, help Brielle with her letters, play with the kids, and then finally get the kids to bed I just wanted to go to sleep, but I just couldn’t until I snapped this picture of my two cute kids.  It really made me think how wonderful it would be to be a kid again. My kids had so much fun together that night even though I was the witch mom I did decide to let them sleep together.  I was so tired, but I still did their bedtime routine of bath, movie, and reading together, but when it came time for bed they wanted to sleep together so I just didn’t have the energy to argue and let them.  After 20 or so minutes of me yelling at them to stop laughing, talking, and playing I went in there to find them like this.  Are they not so dang cute and innocent looking.  It makes me think of a blog entry my friend Amy wrote that I really loved that said,

“ I wish I could ...
*fall asleep within the first five minutes of laying down
*sleep in any position and be comfortable
*sleep through someone walking into my room (or taking a picture)
*stay asleep while someone picks me up to move me into a better position
*sleep for 10+ hours without waking up several times a night
*wake up in the morning, refreshed and energetic, ready for the day
Oh, to be a kid! “

My kids and husband are so special to me and I love being a stay at home mommy.  I am blessed to be able to stay at home with them, because if I had to work everyday I might be one grouchy mom.

our dorky school boy

Cooper is still struggling a bit with his favorite sister (okay his only sister) going to all day Kindergarten.  Everyday when we drop her off he says, “bye, bye Brielle- Love you” and then as she is walking to her playground he screams, “ME SCHOOL, ME SCHOOL” so the other day when he got home he decided to get dressed and ready for school, backpack and all.  It was so cute and quite an interesting outfit.  He had to put on his shorts and of course his belt like daddy (he even did the slight tuck of the shirt like Colby) and then next came the shirt and the sock and then of course the tennis shoes which were way too small.  Finally he HAD to have his own backpack, but not just any backpack he wanted a Thomas the Train backpack.  Well we don’t have Thomas the Train so after a few minutes of negotiation we finally settled on Brielle’s little Barbie backpack filled with all his Thomas The Trains.  He was ready for school and out the door he went.  Little did he know he was not going to school he was going to play at Jackie’s house for the morning with Carter.  Oh well he loved it over there.  So now everyday when we take Brielle to school he has to bring his Barbie Backpack like Brielle so he can go to school after her.  Kids do the darndest things.

one paci, two paci, three paci, four...

Anyone who knows Cooper knows he loves his pacifier.  So a while ago his new favorite thing was two pacifiers.  Look how cute he looks with his two pacifiers, you should hear him talk with them it’s quite precious.  We need to get rid of the paci not give him more!

amazing race- happy birthday chasers

The other day was Chasers (my nephews) 11th birthday.  His parents planned the ultimate birthday party.  It was a 7 hour amazing race scavenger hunt complete with a trip to Burger King to get crown, the mall to do several activities there, Bahamas Bucks to get paper umbrellas from the shaved ice, a trip to Freestone park for a grass toboggan relay and pizza, a backyard race (in my backyard), wall-e-ball, swimming, and don’t worry they even had time left over for cupcakes and presents.  Can you believe it?  Chasers you better thank your parents, they sure love you.

Anyway, since Erin and Jason do so much for us to help out during our kids parties I figured me helping out is the least I could do, so we had a backyard race in my backyard.  It was great.  I set it up while they were doing their other stuff and then 9 kids came over to participate and have some fun.  The stations included; finding the gummy worm in the whipping cream, popping balloons with pin hats, eating mystery foods, filling a cup with frozen peas while using chop sticks, eating a doughnut off the string not using your hands while laying on your back, and last filling a 2 liter soda bottle full to the top with cooked spaghetti noodles.  The kids really had fun and tried their hardest.  My kids even had fun helping them.

This was a really fun day and I am so glad we were able to help and be a part of Chases special day.  We sure love you, Happy Birthday Roo!
