Another year...

It’s back to school again, but this year my little girl is not so little anymore she is a big 2nd grader!  Brielle was excited for school this year cause she got the teacher she wanted, Mrs. Gallager, who she thinks is SO pretty.  Kids are so funny how they think that is so important and makes a good teacher.

On the first day of school I always think Brielle will be like me, nervous with butterflies in her stomach, can’t eat breakfast, and can’t sleep but no she was sleeping just fine, ate breakfast and headed out like no big deal.  I guess she is more like her dad when it comes to that type of stuff then she is like me… Oh well she can’t be 100% perfect.

She had a wonderful first day and thinks she is really going to love her “hot” teacher, not to mention she loves having her BFF Aubrey in her class, we’ll see how long it takes for that to cause some problems.  Elle you are such a smart, sweet girl and we love you tons, enjoy every minute of 2nd grade it really does fly by!

Daisy Update

So our sweet little Daisy dog is still fitting in super great at the Bower house.  We are just loving the heck out of her, especially the kids.

As you can see in the picture Brielle loves to play house with her and tuck her in at night and just hope that she’ll stay in there all night, sorry Elle it never happens, but it’s so cute.  She also love to carry her around and most of all boss her around.  Daisy is such a good sport and just puts up with it all.  I think deep down inside Daisy really love Brielle as much as Brielle loves Daisy.

And then there is Cooper, that boy love to play rough with Daisy and Daisy loves it back.  Man when Cooper get the rope or bone Daisy goes crazy.  The two of them just play for hours.  It’s like watching two kids wrestle around on the ground having a blast, except one of them is a dog.

Daisy is such a sweet puppy and we are getting along nicely.

Whip em’ whip em’ good

Today I just wanted to turn on that old 80’s song by Devo “Whip It” I know you know the song.  Doesn’t it just make you want to get up and dance.  I did since I got my kids to do house cleaning without having to do anything drastic.

My friend Sarah introduced me to a website called Goal For It.  This is a great site.  You can go there and make a chore chart and the kids get Moolah buck and earn rewards for doing chores.  It is way easy to do and my kids were so excited to do chores today when I told them about it.  They were zooming around the house doing anything they could; emptying out trash cans, making their beds, cleaning their rooms and best of all folding, hanging up and putting away ALL their laundry.  Can you believe and they were happy to do it.  I didn’t even have to yell or anything.  They did it with a smile and Brielle even went into Cooper’s room and helped him finish.  It was a beautiful thing.

So if you’re looking for something to get your kids motivated to start doing some chores around the house without grumbling give this website a try.  Thanks Doyle you are a lifesaver.

Happy Mother's Day!

So it's another Mother's day, and it seems like every year, the next one comes sooner.  In fact, I'm not sure, but I wouldn't be surprised if mothers were sneaking in this sucker every 6 months.

But, after all, everyone has a mother, so it's deserved.  Especially around here.

For those of you that know my wife, you know she is pretty amazing.  She is always on the go, always taking care of us all, always providing good food and a real home for us kids.  I'm pretty sure we could survive for a while without her, but I think the kids would get tired of cereal and cheese for sustanance.  And I'm pretty confident state services would be called in by day 30 by someone who is concerned about my kids.

It's the little things.  You know you hear stories of 10 year old kids who have never gone to school?  I think it has to do with the fact you have to sign your kid up for school somehow.  That involves paperwork, I think.  Truthfully, I don't know anything about that, and honestly, without Heather, that could be my kid.

"Lunch."  What??  "Matching clothes."  Huh??  "Check...Book"  Come again?  "Being presentable in public."  Doesn't ring a bell.  "Brushing teeth."  Totally lost me here.

This is a long way to say that my kids mom is the best around, none better.  What better testament is there than your kids always asking, "Where's Mom?"  Seeing them light up when she comes home.  It's the ultimate report card. And Heather passes with flying colors.

And what should you expect.  After all, I chose her...first pick in the draft.

Now, back to things I know best, stinking, itching, and mowing the lawn.

Happy Mother's Day Heather!

mad hatters tea party (the many hats of a mom)

The other day at MOPS (Mother’s of Preschoolers) we had a mad hatters tea party and we had a speaker that talked about the different hats we as women wear. It really made me think of all the hats all us moms wear. It also made me realize how truly special mom’s really are. I am just so grateful for my mom, my mother-in-law, my Aunt Nena, my Grandma’s, and my sister they are not only sweet and wonderful examples to me but also to my kids and for that I am thankful. Here is the list I came up with for the Many Hat’s a Mommy wears in a single day… (Feel free to add to my list)
-Maintenance hat
-Chef hat
-Crafty hat
-Housekeeper Hat
-Change (or menopause, headache, sick, not feel well, but still deal with life) hat
-Counselor hat
-Teacher hat
-Chofer Hat
-Disciplinary hat
-Wife/lover hat

Wow, just that list makes me tired! No wonder I really am ready for bed at the end of the day!!!
