Widow Invasion

So a few weeks ago, I went out to the garage to work on the car a bit and I noticed a bunch of small webs everywhere in a corner.  I saw probably about 500 little spiders, I mean tiny ones, clinging to a few webs, all clustered.  I slowly looked around and noticed 5 or 6 black widows in their webs on every corner of everything.  Backing away, I loaded up my sprayer and got the heck out of there, all the while trying to keep my skin from crawling off my bones.

The next weekend, (after spraying a bit), I began to move some of our STUFF out of the way to find THE SOURCE of all the spiders.  You see, all the ones I had seen to this point were very young, and not even black yet.  For those of you that don't know, young Black Widows are brown with white stripes on their back (at least in Arizona).

As I peered back behind a wooden chest, I saw the problem.  There was a HUGE black widow and SIX egg sacks in her care.  Needless to say, I'm not sure if the insecticide or the drowning killed her, but she (and her eggs) were toast.  There must have been hundreds of dead cricket mummies in the corner (I was wondering why there were no crickets in our garage this year).

Hopefully, after spraying everything that could be sprayed, the spiders are gone.

Morning Munchies

The other day I was sitting at my vanity doing my makeup when all of a sudden I heard the clacking of cereal in a bowl.  I took a second listen and sure enough it was cereal being poured into a bowl.  Then as I was about to yell, “what the heck is going on in there?”  Brielle yells, “don’t worry mom I’m getting Cooper and I breakfast today so you can have a little break.”  My heart sank, I was a little proud because I mean how sweet is that, but I was also thinking I am going to feel so bad when I have to beat her for spilling the milk all over the place.  So I quietly tip toed out and looked around the corner to see what was going on in my kitchen (not really sure if I really wanted to see what was going on in my kitchen), but what I saw was nothing more than a miracle.  Cooper and Brielle were both sitting nicely eating their cereal and there was NO mess.  I sure did train them well.  My kids are growing up and it is bittersweet.  They can finally do stuff for their self, but on the other hand I miss my babies.  At least they still like to hug and snuggle, will they still like to do that at 18 and 20?

divas for just one night

The other day was my great friend Sarah’s 30th birthday and we had a blast celebrating Hollywood style.  It was super fun having a girl’s night out Diva style.  We enjoyed some awesome food at Olive Garden and some super luscious cupcakes made by Sugar Mama Sweets.   They were yummy and jumbo, they really were 100 times better then the Sprinkle cupcakes I had a while back.  I could go on and on about that but I won’t, back to the party. We then headed to the movies to see Mama Mia.  This would only be my second time in a week to see this movie, but it was so worth it.  The movie is so darn cute and we had so much fun.  It is so fun to see that movie with a bunch of girls especially ones that know the songs.  The whole theater belts out singing whenever the songs Dancing Queen or Mama Mia come on.  It’s great.  Sarah’s mom, Aunt, and other adopted Aunt were so cute they were literally dancing and singing in their seats while us young folk were just sitting back giggling at them.  We had a great night eating, drinking (soda and water) and being marry.  Happy Birthday Sarah thanks for being such a sweet friend.  Now you know anytime you need a party planned just ask, I love to plan them.  Anything for you, Doyle!

hurricane 'zona

So last night there was a crazy storm that blew in and of course the local weather-goof-balls had no idea it was coming.  Again.  So now this morning they are all falling over themselves reporting that there, "are reports of winds between 70 and 100 mph!" Now this was a great storm, and as you can see and hear from the video, the lighening and thunder were non-stop.  This went on for 2 hours!   The rumble in the video, not wind, just constant thunder.  It was pretty awesome.  But as for the 100mph winds, uh yea right, we all live in stucco and chicken-wire houses, and we are still here, so not so much.

happy birthday mom

My mom is such a special lady in my life, she has been there through thick and thin.  She is so selfless and wonderful and loves me so much and will do anything for my family and me.  Since she does so much for us my sister and I wanted to make her birthday celebration a night to remember. So we had a “girls night” out with my grandma, my Aunt Jeri, my cousin Kris, my mom, my sister, and I, just a few of her favorite people.  First, we met at the movie theater to watch “Mama Mia”.  It was super cute.  It was a great movie to see with a bunch of girls.  There were laughs, tears, and memories.  It was a fabulous time.  Then we finally headed to TGI Fridays for a yummy dinner with the girls.  We really had a good time and I know it was a time my mom will never forget.  She deserves so much more, but it’s so funny because for my mom this is alls she needed was one evening with her favorite girls, for her it’s the simple things that matter. Thanks everyone for coming and making her night so special and memorable.
